Redcliffe West Residents’ Association welcomes you to this lovely part of the city.
Taking its name from the red cliffs to the south of the harbour, Redcliffe is a diverse area close to Bristol city centre with an active local community association to represent it.
We aim to improve Redcliffe for all who live, work and visit the area.
Get involved.
Some background to our community group.
The Redcliffe West Residents’ Association (RWRA) started life as the Redcliffe Parade Environmental Association (RPEA), which was set up in the mid to late 90s following concerns from some local Redcliffe Parade residents that this oft-overlooked corner of the City was looking a little unloved.
A committee was set up by and for local residents in order to deal with environmental issues concerning litter, street lighting, planning and parking matters.
In the early noughties, RPEA took on the oversight of the Quaker Burial Ground and secured funding to help improve this local green space and protect the hermit’s cave and its content.
Many minor improvements to Redcliffe Parade and surrounding streets were made in its first few years and, as many large building sites started to see planning applications come forward, RPEA was instrumental in helping shape the Redcliffe supplementary planning document as well as being an active member of the Redcliffe Neighbourhood Forum helping to shape the future of Redcliffe’s neighbourhood.
In 2016, it was felt that the RPEA name did not project the wider remit of the Association and its area of representation and its name was changed to RWRA.
